Easter Egg Fun

イースターエッグフェスティバルin戸倉上山田2012年は4月7日（土）に行う予定になりました。今年は何と第7回目。（私の長野での7つ目の春との事！）

この子供たちの為のイベントは少しずつ定着してきている。千曲国際交流協会が主催して、欧米文化の中で春を代表するイベントを地元の子供達とシェアーしながら、戸倉上山田温泉・千曲川の良さと触れ合う事が目的。

去年は100数人のお子さん達が参加して、今年はさらに賑やかにしたいと思っています。地元の子供達だけではなく、観光客の参加も目指します。


当日の内容は：

イースターエッグハント（公園でお菓子入り卵は約1000個が隠れてあって、子供達が探すイベント）

エッグアート（ゆで卵に色を塗る）
フェイスペイント
馬車乗り
終了　12:30

戸倉上山田温泉の旅館が入浴券を提供してくれるので参加者にお渡しします。イベント終了後はお風呂を入ったり、温泉街の飲食店で昼ご飯を食べたり楽しめます。

参加料は200円　（ジュース1本附き）

Not just futon flipping

旅館の若旦那のよくある仕事はお客さんの出迎え、町興し会議の参加、場合によっては布団引き、まあ、私の場合は露天風呂造りも。

しかし、見えない所で仕事が沢山ある。最近は私が設備屋さんの仕事が多い。

小さい方の内風呂の壁タイルは温泉のせいか、タイルとタイルの間の目地が段々と溶けて来ています。その目地塗り直しを実践しました。

そして、50年以上前からあった下水配管の調子が悪かった。素人じゃできないからいつもお世話になっている設備屋さんを呼んで配管の位置を探しました。一緒に穴を掘って配管を追いかけた。

この頃は会議と会議の間にこうやって設備の仕事をしています。まあ、プロから見れば味見程度でしょうけど、設備屋さんの仕事も面白そうと思った。

What type of work does an inn's proprietor like me do? Well, there's greeting the guests and attending all the ryokan association and other meetings for civic improvement. And depending on the innkeeper, there's flipping the futons and, in extreme cases like mine, constructing new outdoor baths.

There's a lot of behind-the-scenes work, too. Lately I've been doing a lot of plumbing-related jobs, like regrouting the wall tiles in one of our onsen baths. Apparently the mist from the hot spring mineral baths has a tendance to melt away the grout.

Then there's our 50+ year old sewar pipe that's been acting strange lately. We called in our regular plumbers to track down the pipe's location. I helped out digging holes to try to find the pipe. Everything's back in good shape now.

Even though from a pro's perspective my recent plumbing work is just dabbling in things, it certainly gave me a taste of what plumbers do. And it gave me an appreciation for their work!

Story-telling taxi tours for Chikuma City

千曲市のタクシー会社らが一生懸命に語り部タクシーのツアーをPRしています。地元の運転士さんが地元の歴史、伝説のお話しをしながら、千曲市の見所を回る「千曲市観光名所めぐり語り部タクシー」

千曲市巡りモデルコースは４つ：
＊姨捨の「田毎の月」棚田と土壁蔵と伝統建物１２０軒が残る稲荷山地区
＊1600年の歴史のある森将軍塚と日本一のあんずの里
＊NHK大河ドラマロケ地「荒砥城」と重文「智識寺」
＊姨捨棚田・長楽寺、味噌蔵、漬物店巡り

それぞれのコースは約2時間；タクシー1台貸し切り料金が13000円。4人の場合は一人3250円。

自分でマイカーで巡り手もあるが、
運転はお任せ、尚且つ地元でしか分からないうんちくのお話を聞けて、なかなか良い企画だと思う。

これからは千曲市以外な行先：小布施、安曇野、戸隠、稲荷山・高橋まゆみ人形館、須坂、上田・真田などのコースも開発する予定だそうです。戸倉上山田温泉がちょうど中心的な位置なので、ここから信州を冒険・探検しょう！

The 2 hour tours cost 13,000 yen which, split by 4 people, is only 3,250 yen a person. Four model courses cover the city's main tourist spots:

*Moon-reflecting Obasute terraced rice fields + Inariyama neighborhood with its 120 historical buildings and earthen walled storehouses
*Mori's 1600-year old tomb and Japan's largest apricot growing area
*Arato-jo Fortress (used by NHK for their historical dramas) and Chishiki-ji Temple, listed on the national historical registry
*Obasute's Choraku-ji Temple + Miso maker + Picles maker tour.

More tours are in the works to outlying destinations, such as Togakushi, the Jigokudani snow monkey park, Matsumoto Castle, etc.

Togura Kamiyamada Onsen is central to Nagano's many tourist spots, and a story-telling taxi tour is a great way to take it all in!

(NOTE: Story-telling is in Japanese so an understanding of some 'nihongo' would be necessary to fully appreciate these tours.)
